What is the difference between Half-time and a casual workers?

In the modern workplace, in addition to full-time employment, more and more people are choosing  "Half-time”or”casual workers" . So what are the differences between these two types of work?

"Half-time" refers to a work arrangement where two or more employees share the responsibilities of a full-time position. They typically work 20 to 30 hours per week, with shifts in the morning, afternoon or evening. This type of work arrangement provides the employee with corresponding compensation and benefits, such as social insurance and provident fund. Employees can negotiate with the employer based on their personal preferences, whether it's working fewer hours per day or fewer days per week. Half-time is suitable for those seeking a better work-life balance.

Casual workers refers to a type of employment that is irregular and short-term in nature. This type of work does not have fixed working hours or compensation, and it's difficult to even secure basic benefits like social insurance and provident fund. Casual workers suits those who pursue flexibility and freedom, or those who are temporarily unable to find stable employment.

Half-time can provide a steady income and basic employee benefits, while casual workers is relatively more free but with unstable income.

For those seeking a better work-life balance, Job sharing is undoubtedly a better choice. For those pursuing freedom and flexibility, casual workers may be more suitable. The key is to make the appropriate choice based on one's own needs and circumstances. Whichever path is chosen, it requires an in-depth understanding and careful consideration.
